Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician from the United States. Born on October 20, 1964, she is the 49th Vice President of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first vice president to be female and the most powerful female politician in U.S. history, as well as the first African American and first Asian American vice president. Being a part of the Democratic Party, she was the attorney general for California between 2011 and 2017 and was she was a United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born in Oakland and graduated from Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Her career began in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later promoted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003 she was elected the district attorney of San Francisco. In 2010 Harris was appointed Attorney General of California. Harris was elected again in 2014. Harris was the junior United States senator from California from 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the 2nd African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. She was a senator who advocated for healthcare reform and federal de-scheduling cannabis. A pathway to citizenship for undocumented migrants. She was praised nationally for her provocative questioning of Trump administration officials during Senate hearings, including Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and was accused of sexual assault.
